What are some symptoms of depression-related dementia?
- slowed information processing
- Poor sustained attention / focus on depressive themes
- *Impaired working memory *
Symtoms of memory impairment in depression.
Anterograde
- Impaired coding or learning of new informations (poor attention)
- Impaired delayed recall / retreiving information (frontal lobe dysfunction)
Retrograde
- Can eperience temporal confusion (when things happen)
How does memory impairment in depression differ to impairment in DAT ?
Recognition memory is relatively intact
What is Psychogenic Amnesia ?
Memory loss due to an instigating event, that does not result in damage to brain strutures
What is Psychogenic Fugue
Complete loss of autobiographical memories usually in response to an emotionally traumatic event
Which memories are lost during a Psychogenic Fugue?
Complete loss of:
- Episodic retrograde memory
- Personal autobiographical semantic memory
Can recall :
- Non-personal semantic memories
- Proceedual
- Antrograde memories
