w2 Flashcards
A type of reproduction that does not need two parents to produce an offspring
ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION
Involves male and female parents to produce offsprings through the fusion of gametes (sperm and
egg cell) generated by meiosis
SEXUAL REPRODUCTION
Contains seeds enclosed in an ovary that is in the form of a fruit
ANGIOSPERM
Has reproductive parts called cones.
GYMNOSPERM
pollen are transferred to the stigma
of the same flower
AUTOGAMY
Pollen are transferred to the
stigma of another flower but the same plant
GEITONOGAMY
Called also as cross pollination,
where pollen are transferred to the stigma of a
different plant.
XENOGAMY
Reproduction of offspring without
fertilization
PARTHENOGENESIS
A type of asexual reproduction where in two individuals will form as the parent divides in half
FISSION
Happens when an outgrowth, called a bud grows and develops from the parent animal
BUDDING
When an organism breaks down into several fragments
FRAGMENTATION
The union of egg and sperm occurs outside the female
reproductive tract.
EXTERNAL FERTILIZATION
It is the union of egg and sperm occurs within the female
reproductive tract.
INTERNAL FERTILIZATION
The eggs are fertilized internally. The
embryos receive nourishment directly
from the mother’s blood through the
placenta rather than from the yolk
