W10 L2 - Pre-Implementation Flashcards
1
Q
what is the goal of pre-implementation
A
- to reduce risk –> go forward with more clarity that system can be reliable and people using it can use it correctly and efficiently
2
Q
What are the sources of risk of failure
A
- External to organisation: beyond the control of project
- Internal to organisation but external to project: your organisation merging with another organisation, your system needs to interact with the other system
- Internal to project but external to the system: say you have project team and project designer and she quits; project has stalled
- System-related: components of the system. e.g. vendor discontinues the line of software
3
Q
Explain the Risk and cost relationsip
A
- draw graph
- more cost means lower risk usually
4
Q
What are the 2 types of documentation
A
System (technical):
- Previous phases
- future phases
- -> requirement specification, architecture design, data models
User (business): Aimed at who uses the system
- Reference manual [referring to something specific i.e. task]
- Procedure manual [bigger tasks: how do I generate the monthly sales report]
- Tutorials [focus on specific aspects of the system]
- -> online documentation (document structure + navigation)
Should be started early then ‘tested’
