Define prognosis?
The prediction of the duration, course and termination of the disease and its response to treatment. Given before tx.
Define expressed consent
Is given orally or in writing - this may be something the client has a right to autonomy in making decisions regarding oral tx which must be respected.

Define the preliminary phase
Treatment goals, Resolution of acute problems. Stabilization of active disease.
What is the OHT’s role in preliminary phase?
Emergency treatment is the first priority for any dental patient in need of:
exp, rct, periodontal, temporisation, plaque control, referral to pathology/oral med.
What treatments are included in phase 1: Non surgical phase?
Client education, direct resto, tobacco cessation, F- tx, sealants, s/c.
When should you review a periodontal site?
4-8 weeks
When should you refer to a periodontist?
If 5mm or greater at re-evaluation stage, referral to be considers. Also consider, extend of disease and resolution to therapy.
