- marginalised/ disadvantaged groups
- people living in dangerous environments
- people engaging in high risk behaviour
vulnerable groups should
be supported to participate in research- but also be protected from abuse and exploitation
When is research with vulnerable people justified
- if the research is addressing a meed or priority for this group (e.g. sickle cell)
- the research cannot be conducted with a non-vulnerable group (e.g. Child health/ assault in prisons
- the group will benefit from the results of the research
