Volcanoes Flashcards
1
Q
How are volcanoes formed?
A
Because oceanic crust is more dense it slips underneath continental crust and into the mantle. When oceanic crust is slipped under the continental crust, the semi-molten rock goes up to the surface, it melts and increases in pressure. The magma forces its way through the crusts cracks and explodes as lava.
