Q

How are shield volcanoes formed

A

Shield volcanoes are formed by hotspots located in the oceanic lithosphere

Q

What’s the process of Volcanic Eruption

A
  • Magma continuously heated below the earth’s surface as it goes up
  • As it rises, pressure increases inside the volcano due to trapped gas bubbles within it causing it to swell
  • Pressure exceeds, the strength of overlying rocks, fracturing occurs resulting in further drop in confining pressure.
  • Enhance formation of gas bubbles

15
Q

a type of volcanic eruption where lava flows from the vent in a relatively gentle, low level eruption; it is so named because it is characteristic of Hawaiian volcanoes.

16
Q

the least violent type, with highly fluid or runny lava flowing out a volcano’s vents. It leads to the formation of shield volcanoes.

A

HAWAIIAN ERUPTION

17
Q

Violent, featuring
continuous ejection of
magma and gas.

A

Strombolian Eruption

18
Q

It results in the formation of volcanic bombs and cinder cones.

A

Strombolian Eruption

19
Q

a thick, viscous magma flows around the vent as solid lava dust are ejected.

A

Vulcanian Eruption

20
Q

accompanied by a dense cloud of ash and gases that rise high into the atmosphere

A

Vulcanian Eruption

21
Q

caused by the buildup of viscous magma and dissolved gas.
It is accompanied by fast- flowing pyroclastic debris and lahars.

A

Plinian Eruption

22
Q

Is the most violent and explosive type of eruption.

A

Plinian Eruption
