Government
A governing body of a nation, state, community, organization, institutions, or individuals.
Direct Democracy
A form of government in which all the people meet together at one place to make laws and decide what actions to take.
Citizen
A legal member of a country.
Republic
A government in which the people elect representatives to carry the work of government for them.
Constitution
A written plan of government.
Election
An organizaed and formal choice by the people with a vote.
Founding Fathers
A member of the constitutional convention who created the constitution in 1787.
Bill of Rights
The first 10 amendments to the U.S constitution.
Representatives
People chosen or appointed to act or speak for others.
Rule of Law
All people must follow the laws, and the laws should be enforced fairly.
Self Government
People can make decisions on how their government should work.
Due Process
People have the right to fair and reasonable laws. Officials have to follow rules when enforcing laws and need to treat all people in the same way.
Limited Government
A government that has been limited power by a constitution, or written agreement.
Rights
A set of things that people believe they should be free to do without restrictions.
