707(b) Offense
Felony offense listed in WIC 707(b) that is not subject to automatic sealing when youth completes probation (WIC 786(d)). Many qualify as strikes if committed after age 16. Youth may seek discretionary sealing after age 18

Exclusions from 790/DEJ
Prior felony wardship, 707(b) offenses, age > 14, prior failure to complete probation NOT RECOMMENDED because of strike risk
827 Petition
Petition by a 3rd party to review a minor’s court file. DA, minor, parents, minor’s attorney in pending case, and superintendent of minor’s school may review without petition

Camp/CCP
Camp Community Placement - Wardship disposition that results in youth being placed in a locked facility for 3-, 6-, or 9-month program
Camp Exclusions
Severe intellectual or learning disability, mental illness, physical or medical issues that prevent participation in programming
CASA
Court Appointed Special Advocate; volunteer appointed by dependency court to advocate for child’s best interest. They also attend delinquency appearances
Crossover Youth
Youth who has pending cases in both delinquency court and dependency court
Dennis H Hearing
Detention hearing where DA must present prima facie evidence that youth committed the offense. If DA fails to meet burden, result is RELEASE, not dismissal (WIC 637)
Detention Hearing
Hearing where court decides whether or not youth will remain detained until the adjudication (WIC 632)
Detention Report
Report prepared by Probation Department that provides time of detention (not always accurate), and recommendations on whether not youth should remain detained
DJF
Division of Juvenile Facilities (formerly DJJ, CYA) Wardship disposition that is the most restrictive. The amount of time youths serve before parole eligibility depends on their behavior and offense category. Youths sent to DJF on an eligible sex offense are subject to sex offender registration (PC 290.008)
