Collateral vessels
extra blood vessels that connect portions of the same artery or link two different arteries; Alternate blood circulation routes
Ventral
directed toward or situated on the BELLY surface
dorsal
directed toward or situated on the BACK surface
radicular
run along the posterior and anterior roots of the spinal nerves and supply them with blood.
Artery of Adamkiewicz
provides the major blood supply to the lumbar/sacral cord;supplies much of caudal spinal cord; most commonly arises on the left (~80%) at the level of the 9th-12th intercostal artery (~70%)

Class of pharmaceuticals that decrease platelet aggregation and inhibit thrombus formation
anticoagulants
commonly known as blood thinners; chemical substances that prevent or reduce coagulation of blood, prolonging the clotting time
