middle passage
“The Middle Passage. The second leg of a 3 part voyage, started in the 1670’s that connected America to Africa. Ships on this route brought back slaves for America, frequently packing in as many Africans as possible with minimal food, water, and shelter in order to maximize profit.
treaty of tordesillas
“Treaty of Tordesillas, (June 7, 1494), agreement between Spain and Portugal aimed at settling conflicts over lands newly discovered or explored by Christopher Columbus and other late 15th-century voyagers.
