Environmental Value System (EVS)
A worldview or paradigm that shapes the way an individual or group of people perceives and evaluates environmental issues.
Ecocentrism
An EVS that focuses on the environment, does not prioritize humans above other animals, and emphasizes a less materialistic approach to life with greater self-sufficiency of societies.
Anthropocentrism
An EVS that focuses on human well-being and presents humans to be the most important species and the manager of all aspects of the environment.
Technocentrism
An EVS that focuses on the economy, prioritizes human life, and proposes technology as the key to solving environmental problems.
BREAK
Environmental Value System (EVS)

Preservationists
believed that land had an intrinsic value and therefore advocated for the preservation of land and its resources.
