Bicultural education

Culturally Competent Clinician

Culture

Language Difference
A language difference is having the ability to speak another language that is different from the language used for instruction or used by the majority of people. Language differences are not an indication of a language disorder.

a particular form of a language that is peculiar to a specific region or social group.
Code-switching
the practice of alternating between two or more languages or varieties of language in conversation.
Limited English Language Proficiency
refers to a person who is not fluent in the English language, often because it is not their native language.
Conversational Informal Language Fluency (CILF)
conversational informal language fluency (CILF) this is oral language fluency that facilitates social interaction in daily life; there is surrounding context, and communication between speakers ; it is informal and casual.
Formal Academic Language Fluency (FALF)
Academic language is the language needed by students to do the work in schools. It includes, for example, discipline-specific vocabulary, grammar and punctuation, and applications of rhetorical conventions and devices that are typical for a content area (e.g., essays, lab reports, discussions of a controversial issue.)
