Dope Sheet
a sheet which is a set of instructions for the camera, it is divided into columns for separate instructions
Exposure Sheet
another name for a dope sheet
Keys
the important or main drawings of an animation
Model Sheet
a plan for a character which shows the character in different poses and adds important details of the character
Pre-production
work done once a project is approved, but before the actual animation starts. Includes story development and storyboarding as well as scriptwriting
NTSC
(National Tevelvision System Committee) -Sets the standards for broadcast, also used to state the standard rate of 60 FPS for television broadcast
Rotoscope
a technique established in the early 1900s where the animator traces outlines of a live video in order to produce animations
Storyboard
a set of drawings which tell a viewer the story of a planned film or animation. Told as camera instructions
Squash & Stretch
a technique to show exaggeration in a bouncing object or when one object meets another
Silhouette
outline of a person or objec
Anticipation
preparing the audience for an action ( a golfer taking a swing has to bring the club back first)
Overlapping Action
when a character changes direction, a part of the body will continue to go in the direction that it was previously going)
Arc
a curved natural path that most things move to
Frames per second
how many drawings are exposed in one second ( the more drawings, the finer the animation)
