Involved in maintaining healthy skin and eyes
What are important side effects of vitamin A?
High levels can cause birth defects in pregnancy
( avoid fish oils, liver and pate)
Deficiency is rare but associated with ocular defects and increased susceptibility to infections.

malabsorption
chronic liver disease

What type of vitamin D is given to patients with severe renal disease and why?
Alfacalcidol or calciférol
these are hydroxylated deviated
Vitamin D requires hydroxylation by the kidney to its action form.
What group of patients are at an increased risk of vitamin K deficiency?
Patient with fat malabsorption, or liver problems may become deficient.
As vitamin K is a fat soluble vitamin
