Below 100 systolic
What is considered High blood pressure?
140/90 is hypertensive
180 systolic is a hypertensive emergency

What is an abnormal reading for Neutrophils?
What does it mean?
- High levels = possible bacterial infection
- Low levels = acute sepsis
What is an abnormal reading for Lymphocytes?
What does it mean?
- High levels = Possible viral infection
What is an abnormal reading for Band cells?
What does it mean?
- High levels = serious infection
What is an abnormal reading for Monocytes?
What does it mean?
- High levels = Bacterial infection
What is an abnormal reading for Eosinophils?
What does it mean?
- High levels = Parasitic infection
What does High sodium indicate?
What does Low sodium indicate?
- High = dehydration
- Low = dehydration
What does High potassium indicate?
What does Low potassium indicate?
- High = poor kidney function
- Low = possible arrythmias
What does High BUN indicate?
- High = renal insufficiency and dehydration
What does High Creatinine indicate?
- High = renal insufficiency
What does high BNP indicate?
possible heart failure
What does high CK (creatine kinase) indicate?
generalized muscle damage
What does high Troponin ( > .02) indicate?
Cardiac muscle damage
What does high D-Dimer indicate?
Possible Pulmonary embolism
What does high ESR and CRP indicate?
Active inflammation in the body
Urinary pH less than 5 or greater than 7?
UTI or kidney stones
High protein in urine?
- may indicate kidney disease
- acute dehydration
- high protein diet
High ketones in urine?
- Dehydration
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Presence of nitrites in the urine?
- possible sign of UTI
- definitive growth of gram (-) bacteria, such as E. coli
What does elevated ALP (Alkaline Phosphatase) indicate?
Liver disease or bone disorder
What does elevated Albumin indicate?
Many different things are possible:
- Liver or Kidney disese
- Inflammatory disease
- Acute infections
- Nutrient deficiency
What does elevated AST (Aspartate aminotransferase) indicate?
Liver damage
Possibly Heart or Kidneys
