Tidal volume = 500ml
What is systolic pressure?
Pressure of blood from contractions of the ventricles
What is diastolic?
Pressure of the ventricles at rest
What is the difference between the 2?
Pulse pressure. Normal PP is 40mmHg
Oxygen concentration dissolved in plasma
PaO2
Saturation of arterial oxygen
SaO2
What does a pulse oximeter measure?
SaO2
What is normal SaO2?
95% - 100%. Anything below is life threatening
What causes a pulse or heart rate?
Contraction of the left ventricle
Equation for measuring cardiac output
Stroke volume (SV) x heart rate (HR) = XL/min
Difference between Peripheral pulse & Apical pulse?
Peripheral is away from the heart, wrist or foot
Apical is central to the heaRt
Definition of hypotension
LOW blood pressure
Definition of hypertension?
HIGH blood pressure
If heart rate is slower than 60bpm it is?
Bradycardia
