When would you give surgery as a treatment?
Usually only on strabismus patients unless the patient has a >30 diopter phoria at all distances.
You may also consider it for patients who have vertical phoria.
What can occlusion be used for?
Amblyopia, strabismus, and suppression.
What system do prisms effect?
Fusional vergence demands
Are adds more effective on a patient with High, Low, or normal AC/A?
Adds more effective on High AC/A
Typically, what kind of lenses would you give a patient who has a convergence excess?
Plus lens to relax accommodation at near when allows them to relax in more exo position.
Do adding lenses on a Low AC/A patient have a big or small effect on the patients phoria?
Small effect. Phoria doesn’t change much
