Cataracts manifestations?
A
- Clouded, blurred, or dim vision (early stages)
- Decrease/Abnormal color perception (early stages)
- Fading or yellowing of colors
- Night vision difficulty
- Sensitivity to light and glare
- Halo vision around light sources
- Double vision in a single eye

Pathophysiology of Glaucoma?
A
- Aqueous production (inflow) and aqueous reabsorption (outflow) must be balanced to maintain IOP
- Outflow occurs at angle where iris meets cornea
- Inflow > outflow → increased IOP
- Increased IOP → permanent loss of vision

A LVN/LPN can check a client’s visual acuity with a Snellen chart.

Glaucoma risk factors?
A
- Family history
- Age > 60
- Hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypothyroidism, myopia
- Prolonged corticosteroid use
- Severe myopia (near-sightedness)
