Why is a virus living? Why is it not?
A virus is living because it has the ability to reproduce. It is non living because they are not made of cells and don’t grow or respond to their environment.
Is a virus living or not?
It is neither since it shows traits of both.
What is required for a virus to reproduce?
Viruses MUST reproduce INSIDE a LIVING CELL!
What is the structure of a virus?
Chromosome-like part (carries hereditary material) surrounded by protein coat (causes different shapes)
What are different virus shapes?
Round
Rod shaped
Many-sided
How are viruses spread in humans?
By insects, air, water, food, and other people
What are vaccines?
Weakened or dead viruses which are injected into your body to allow your body to recognize viruses without getting infected
How are viruses grouped?
- By what kind if cell they affect- some might only affect certain part(s) of the cell
- Shape of protein coat
- Size of virus
