Viral hepatitis Flashcards
For most of this, refer to the viral hepatitis deck
OK…but some things Nelson is more likely to ask…

Hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG)
HBV vaccine
What are three extra hepatic autoimmune manifestations/syndromes rarely seen with HCV?

Is there a vaccine for HEV?
Yes…but not commercially available (I don’t think he’d ask this, but it’s interesting)
What indicates active HAV?
IgM anti-HAV
What indicates past HAV?
IgG anti-HAV
What does HBsAg indicate?
Ongoing HBV infection…acute or chronic
Do anti-HBc indicate protective immunity?
No
What does HBeAg indicate?
Active viral replication
What does HDAg and HDV RNA indicate?
Active viral replication and ongoing infection
Does anti-HCV confer immunity or recovery?
No
How is it determined if HCV is active?
Measure viral load (PCR, liver biopsy)
What serology tests are used to avoid transfusion transmitted hepatitis?
HBsAg Anti-HBc HBV DNA Anti-HCV HCV RNA
