- flu-like symptoms
- attacks body immune cells

-exchange of bodily fluids i.e sharing needles

A
- AIDs
-when body’s cells become so badly damaged, no longer fight off infection or cancers, fatal

what are treatment of HIV?
A
- antiretroviral drugs, do not go on to develop aids, do not cure HIV, take for rest of life
- stops virus multiplying inside of patient so virus does not damage patient’s immune system

how do virus cause disease?
A
- virus attaches to specific host cell
- genetic material from virus injected into host cell
- viral genes can cause host cell to make new viruses
- host cell splits open releasing new virus
