Two components of violence and aggression
Power: dynamics of energy and what somebody feels like in terms of options in a scenario
if they have power they can do whatever
choices- do they have any , how are they choosing them
Control:
control
how much agency or how much do you have to influence someone in the situation has
when people don’t feel like they have control in the situation
they control others they control the situation, and the environment
often agitation violence and aggression pops up when
people don’t feel like they have any control in this situation

Anger is

a person is frustrated, hurt, or afraid

When anger turns negative: two types
1- verbal aggression or hostility
2- physical aggression
Process of aggression
not an on or off switch but a progression through stages
2 types of bullying
1- horizontal or lateral bullying
2- vertical bullying
addressing bullying
- Effective communication
- observation: what am i noticing about the person (body language, speech, affect)
what am I noticing about the environment (potential risks, contributing factors)
what can I do to address any o these observations? what do i have power and control of in the situation
