Gender based violence
Violence based on gender norms and unequal power dynamics, perpetrated against someone based on thier gender, gender expression, gender identity, or percieved gender. It takes many forms
Rape myths/rape culture
Supports sexual violence against women - that a victim was ‘asking for it’
Conceptually accurate language
Crimes against women and children are freqently described as though a perpetrator does not exist
The use of conceptually accurate language when discussing violence against women is important
Femicide
Defined as an intentional killing with a gender-related motivation, femicide may be driven by stereotyped gender roles, discrimination towards women and girls, unequal power relations between women and men, or harmful social norms.
Social vunerability
The product of social inequalities (economic inequalities) that influence or shape the susceptibility of various groups to harm and that govern the ability to respond
