Where do the Viking people come from?

What were the Vikings like?
They were bold and hardy adventure-loving sailors.
What was different about the Viking ships?
They had the had bow and stern rising out. The middle was lower and there was no deck. They had one mast and one sail.

He sold maps that he drew. He also decided to try to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
How much of the world was then known.
Only half of the world had been discovered. Europe, Asia and a small part of Africa were places known.
How did Columbus go to Spain.
He went to Spain to ask for help to plan a voyage. He first went to a Convent with his son on the port of Palos, asking for food/water for his son because he was so poor and his wife had died. He explained his ideas to the guardian of the Convent and he sent a letter to the King and Queen of England.
When did He Sail.
August 3, 1492
What happened on the first part of the voyage?
He had to stop at the Canary Islands to change the sails on one ship and get a new rudder on another ship. They stopped for 3 weeks.
Did Columbus think he landed on the Indies?
Yes, that’s why he called the inhabitants Indians.
What did Columbus name the island he first landed upon?
He named it San Salvador (Holy Savior)
Did Columbus ever land on any part of what is now the United States?
No
