Access to services for victims
Obligation is on police to provide services to victims (usually victim support or womens refuge)
If a child is a victim, is the parent of that child also a victim?
Yes (unless the parent is the offender)

No, it’s about the effect of the offending.
When is it mandatory to have a VIS on a file
For the second appearance
Victim notification register - what offences?
-Sexual offending
-Serious assault
-Serious injury , death, rendered incapable
-Victim ongoing fear on RG for safety/security of themselves and immeadiate family
POL1065 Victim notification register. What is it
Victim notified of bail, release or escape. To be handed to victim by OC case.
Victim decides if they want to register or no by signing and sending it. Record it in the victim node in NIA
S29 specified offences.
What obligations on the prosecutor when someone appearing on a specified offence charge making a bail application?
If s29 applies and the defendant applies for bail, the prosecutor MUST make all reasonable efforts to advise the court of the views of the victim.
The Court MUST take those views into account on bail/conditions.
Complaints about police.
Who can a person complain to?
A person required to take complaint

Must deal with complaint promptly and fairly

FLEEING DRIVER POLICY.
What is a fleeing driver?
Signalled to stop - fails to stop or remain stopped
What is the over riding principal for fleeing drivers
TENR and safety is success
Each fleeing driver event is reviewed to determnie what factors?
If it was;
- appropriate
- justified
- lessons learnt
- lawful
- compliant with police instructions

THREAT = posed by driver
NECESSITY = to apprehend
RISK = of harm
PRINCIPAL for FLEEING DRIVERS
-safety of all takes preference to catching fleeing driver
- failing to stop alone is insufficient to pursue
- investigation preferred to pursuit
- pursuit only justified with threat outweighs risk
- collective responsibility to manage
- consider risks esp with CYP’s
- decisions to abandon will be supported
- fleeing drivers to be investigated/held to account
-fleeing driver events to be reviewed to ID issues
-staff may be criminally responsible if contrevene policy

Get COMMS to enter an event and K6 before end of shift (or within 5 days if approved).
Create NIA file and near miss report if appropriate

Reviews COMMS recordings
Reviews footage (Eagle)
Identify or escalate H&S issues, lessons learnt, training opportunities
