What is explained Under section 4 of the VRA 2002?
A victim is;
- A person whom an offence is committed by another person
- A person who through or by means of an offence committed by another person suffers physical injury or loss of or damage to property
- A parent or legal guardian of a child or a young person who is a victim unless they are charged with, found guilty of, or pleads guilty to the offence
- A member of immediate family of a person who as a result of an offence does, or is incapable unless they are charged with commission, found guilty or pleads guilty to the offence
What is section 7 under the VRA 2002
Any person who deals with a victim should treat the victim with courtesy and and respect their dignity and privacy
What is section 8 under the VRA 2002
A victim or member of victims family who has welfare, health, counseling, medical or legal needs from offence should have services responsive to those needs
What is section 11 under VRA 2002
A victim must as soon as practicable after contact with an agency be given information about programmes or services available to them
What is section 12 under VRA 2002
Victim must as soon as practicable be given information about progress of investigation
What is the purpose of the GRM
It determines the polices level of response (bronze, silver, gold) the victim may receive, it defines consistent practice standards for police to determine appropriate responses with victims
What is a section 29 specied offence
An offence of;
- sexual nature
- serious assault
- resulted in serious injury to a person, death or person becoming incapable
- other kind has led to the victim ha ring ongoing fears on reasonable grounds for their safety or 1 or more members of their immediate family
What is victim focus framework
The aim is to reduce repeat victimization across the country by making victims the primary focus of the police response and to prevent victimization
Describe the victim history scorecard
This is a calculated score of the level of victimization over the previous 12 months indicated by traffic light green, amber or red
