Vertebrae(T1-T12)(L1-L5)(Sacrum)(Coccyx)(Axial Skeletal) ( Lab Practical) Flashcards
1
Q
T1-T12
A
- Transverse costal facets: smooth articulating surfaces on the transverse processes for articulation with the tubercle of a rib
- Costal facets: small indentations on the lateral aspect of the vertebral bodies for articulation with the head of a rib. Most thoracic vertebrae have two costal facets, one superior and one inferior costal facet.

Q
L1-L5
A
3
Q
Sacrum
A
- Superior articular process: Articulates with the L5 at superior articular processes and inferiorly with the coccyx
- Sacral foramina: openings for sacral nerves
- Median sacral crest: on the posterior side, a remnant of the spinous processes of the fused vertebrae
- Sacral canal: the continuation of the vertebral foramen through the sacrum
