e.g. thinking,

Transitive Verb
A type of dynamic
verb that requires a
noun e.g. ‘she
kicked the ball’
Intransitive verbs
Don’t require a
noun e.g she
sneezed, she
laughed
Infinitive verbs
A verb you can’t tell
the tense from e.g.
to wake, to run, to
love
Finite verbs
A verb you can tell
the tense of e.g.
she was waiting
non-finite
Any other form than finite.
Typically infinitive forms, -ing forms and -ed forms
Auxiliary verbs
Verbs used in forming tenses, moods, and voices of other verbs. They are uses alongside other verbs to help provide more information
Primary auxiliary verbs
be, do and have
Modal auxiliaries
expresses necessity or possibility.
Include must, shall, will, should, would, can, could, may and might
