infinitive
the most basic verb form in all languages
In English, the verb is preceded by the preposition “to” as in “to speak”, or “to write”.
In Spanish, infinitives only consist of one word and are separated into three different conjugation sets according to their endings, -AR, -ER, and IR, such as “hablar”, “leer”, and “escribir”

Regular verb -AR
infinitive: preparar (to prepare)
yo: preparo
tu: prepares
el, ella, usted: prepara
nosotros: preparamos
vosotros: preparais
ellos, ellas, ustedes: preparan
Regular verb -ER
Infinitive: comprender (to comprehend) yo: comprendo tu: comprendes él, ella, usted: comprende nosotros: comprendemos vosotros: comprendéis ellos, ellas, ustedes: comprenden
Regular verb -IR
infinitive: aburrir (to annoy)
yo: aburro
tú: aburres
él, ella, usted: aburre
nosotros: aburrimos
vosotros: aburrís
ellos, ellas, ustedes: aburren
