Ventricular Tachycardia Flashcards
1
Q
What is the defintion of VT?
A
- regular, broad-complex tachycardia
- ventricles pump > 100bpm
- leading to ↓ stroke volume
2
Q
What are causes or RF for ventricular tachycardia?
A
- Cardiomyopathy
- Coronary Artery Disease
- Electrolyte abnormalities (↓ K+, ↓ Ca2+, ↓Mg2+)
- Drug abuse (cocaine, caffeine)
- Long QT syndrome
- Brugada syndrome
- short QT syndrome
3
Q
What are the signs and symptoms of ventricular tachycardia?
A
- Syncope/dizziness
- Chest pain
- SOB
- Hypotension / Tachycardia
- Sudden death
4
Q
What are the investigations for ventricular tachycardia?
A
- ECG
- U&Es
- Troponin & Creatine kinase-MB (CKMB)
5
Q
What is the management for haemodynamic instability & VT with a pulse?
A
DC cardioversion
and Must be synchronised
6
Q
What is the management for Haemodynamic stability & VT with a pulse?
A
- IV amiodarone
2. If fails, DC cardiovert
7
Q
What is the management for Torsades de Pointes?
A
IV magnesium sulfate
leads to pVT
8
Q
What is the management for pulseless VT (Pt will be unstable and pulseless)?
A
ALS
9
Q
What are two shockable rhythms?
A
- pulseless VT
