What is the ventral cavity?
Cavity of the front of the body.
What organs does the ventral cavity contain?
The chest, abdomen, and visceral organs in those regions.
Is the dorsal cavity bigger than the ventral cavity?
No. The ventral cavity is bigger.
Where is the superior thoracic cavity?
Separated from the rest of the ventral cavity by the diaphragm.
How are organs in the thoracic cavity protected?
By the ribcage.
What is the mediastinum?
Space within your chest which contains the heart, trachea, and other structures, separates the lungs into right and left cavities.
What is the cavity inferior to the diaphragm (dome-shaped muscle)?
Abdominopelvic cavity.
What does the abdominopelvic cavity contain?
The stomach, liver, intestines, the inferior pelvic cavity, and other organs.
What is the inferior pelvic cavity?
The cavity which contains the reproductive organs, bladder, and rectum.
Is there a structure dividing the abdominal and pelvic cavities?
No.
Is the pelvic cavity entirely inferior?
No, it tips away from the abdominal in a posterior direction.
