Velocity, Distance, Time, and Acceleration (70 & 71) Flashcards
What is the difference between Speed and Velocity?
Speed only has a magnitude (or amount) while Velocity has a magnitude and a direction.
What is the formula for Speed?
Speed=Distance/Time
How do you find the Speed on a Distance-Time graph?
You find the gradient of the line.
How do you find the gradient of the line?
Divide the change in the y-axis by the change in the x-axis.
What is Acceleration?
Acceleration is the rate at which the Velocity is changing.
How do you find the Acceleration?
Find the change in Velocity and then divide it by the Time taken.
What is the formula for Acceleration?
a=(v-u)/t
What is the unit for Acceleration?
m/s2
How do you find the Acceleration on a Velocity-Time Graph?
You find the gradient of the line.
How do you find the Distance travelled on a Velocity-Time graph?
You find the area underneath the line.
