Great (long) saphenous V Beginning
On foot dorsum from dorsal venous arch medial end
Great (long) saphenous V Course & end
Passes backwards on foot medial side & ascends in front of med. malleolus behind saphenous nerve to enter leg, where it ascends along it’s medial side till medial side of knee back, then it ascends along thigh medial side reaching saphenous opening
It pierces cribriform fascia & femoral sheath anterior wall to end in femoral V 4 cm below & lat. to pubic tubercle
It has about 15-20 valves
Great (long) saphenous V Tributaries & communications
1-Superficial vv. from foot, leg & thigh
2-Communicating vein with small saphenous V
3-Perforating vein to join deep veins
4-Superficial inguinal vein superficial circumflex iliac,
superficial epigastric & superficial external pudendal
Femoral V Beginning
At adductor hiatus as popliteal V continuation
Femoral V Course & end
Enters adductor canal then femoral triangle, to end behind inguinal
ligament as ext. iliac V
Femoral V Tributaries
1-Great saphenous V
2-Deep external pudendal V
3-Profunda femoris V
4-Med. & lat. circumflex femoral V
