Vehicle Examination Flashcards
what kind of evidence can you pull from an airbag
singe patterns, fibers, lubricants
what evidence can be found on the airbag from the people
hair, blood, fibers, saliva and cosmetics
where do burns on the driver come from
hot air releases from the airbag being pushed out and it will burn the driver
if the lamp was broken and it was ON what would happen
there would be a reaction with the oxygen and tungsten oxide forms
how do airbags work
sensor detect rapid deacceleration
hot nitrogen gas releases
fills airbag and deflates immediately
gas being pushed through vents
how do driver air bag differ
they are ciruclar, circular stiching, more lubricant,
how does passenger airbag differ
rectangular, straight stitching
what are characteristics of a normal filament
even coil, clear glass
what are the characteristics of a normal aged lamp
pitted filament, downward sag, darkened bulb
characteristics of filament deformation
can be caused by impact, uneven coiling, can be ON or OFF
what causes filament fracture
can be caused by cold shock, aging weakness,
filament burnout characterisitcs
blanked filaments, thinning
what is deformation with separation
this is when the filament under goes deformation then separation (ie. burnout then fracture)
what can a loose filament in a bulb cause
can come from surface pitted, deformation, was ON at impact
what shows that a filament has been melted and burned out
stretched out and tampered end
