Insecure avoidant attachment
Insecure avoidant attachment is not affected by mother’s presence or absence

Secure attachment: distressed when mother leaves the room but happy and comforted by her return
accomodation
Accommodation involves changing a pre-existing mental idea in order to fit new information. This is a more advanced process than assimilation.

Assimilation: the process of taking in new information and fitting it into and making it part of a pre-existing mental idea about objects or experiences
critical period
critical periods are when organisms is most vulnerable to the absence of a certain stimulus or experience
sensitive period
sensitive periods are when organism is most vulnerable to the absence of a certain stimuli
animism
Animism is the belief that everything which exists has some kind of consciousness.

Insecure resistant attachment: very distressed when mother leaves the room and is not comforted by her when she returns
