Fever BIlateral conjunctivitis Strawberry tongue Injected pharynx Body rash Erythema, swelling of lips, hands and feet
Kawasaki labs
ELevated WBC
Thrombocytosis (700,000)
ESR, CRP elevated
Kawasaki Tx
IVIG
ASA
Wegener’s Granulomatosis
Rare disorder of small arteries Mainly in resp tract, kidneys
4th and 5th decase
Wegeners S/S
Develops over 4-12 mo
Pesent w/ upper or lower resp or both
Constitutional sx
Saddle nose deformity
Wegeners labs
C-ANCA is specific
Chest CT shows lung changes
Wegeners Tx
Corticosteroids
Methotrexate
Cyclophosphamide
Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP)
Most common vasculitis in children, but also occurs in adults.
HSP S/S
`Palpable purpura (lower extremities)
Abd pain w/ bleed
Arthritis (knees and ankles)
Hematuria or proteinuria (glomerulonephritis)
