Vasculature Flashcards
subclavian A
Right from brachiocephalic artery
Left from aortic arch
Distal border is first rib
subclavian V
Both right and left from corresponding brachiocephalic veins
Distal border is first rib
axillary A and V
Between 1st rib and inferior border of teres major tendon
brachial A
From axillary artery until the distal split into radial/ulnar arteries
(Blood pressure measured here via cuff sphygmomanometer)
deep brachial A (profunda brachii)
Large branch of brachial artery, runs parallel to it
basilic V
Runs parallel to brachial artery, becomes superficial at medial elbow
Distal extension of basilic vein in the upper arm, runs along the antero-medial forearm
cephalic V
Runs superficial along the midline of the path of the biceps brachii
-runs along the antero-lateral forearm
Radial A
Along the antero-lateral surface of the radius
Ulnar A
Along the anterior surface of the ulna and over the flexor retinaculum
Recurrent radial and ulnar A
Branches that extend proximally around the elbow, to anastomose with branches of the brachial and deep brachial arteries, providing collateral circulation
median antecubital (median cubital) V
Connects basilic and cephalic veins in the antecubital space (interior angle of the elbow) (site of venipuncture)
median antebrachial V
Superficial vein along the midline of the anterior forearm
Superficial palmar arch A
Formed by distal union of radial and ulnar arteries
deep palmar arch A
Distal interconnections of the various forearm veins, less well defined
Digital arteries
Branches of the superficial palmar arch to supply each digit
