Vascular system Flashcards
Vessels that carry blood toward the heart
Veins
Vessels that carry blood away from the body
Arteries
Only artery that carries deoxygenated blood
Pulmonary
Only vein that carries oxygenated blood
Pulmonary
Major artery associated with left ventricle. Delivers oxygenated blood to the body
Aorta
Branches off the abdominal aorta that supply the kidneys with oxygenated blood
Renal Arteies
Returns deoxygenated blood to the vena cava
Coronary arteries
Principal branches of cranial vena cava providing venous return from head and neck region
Jugular veins (R and L)
Delivers oxygenated blood to head and Neck
Carotid arteries
Right branches off the brachiocephalic, left branches off the aorta
Subclavian Arteries (R and L)
Cranial surface of the radius
Cephalic Veins
Lateral surface of the hindlimbs
Saphenous Veins
Abdominal aorta divides near sacrum into L & R iliac arteries
External Iliac artery
Iliac artery branches into femoral artery as it aves abdominal cavity
Femoral artery and vein
Cranial and caudal vena cava, delivers deoxygenated blood from the body to the heart
Vena Cava
