What is the union of the maxillary vein and superficial temporal vein ?
Retro mandibular vein
Where does the anterior division drain into?
Internal jugular vein
What vein drains the teeth?
Internal and external jugular veins via the split in the retro mandibular vein
What is the pterygoid plexus?
A collection of anastomosing vessels around the pterygoid muscles and in the infratemporal fossa
Where is the pterygoid plexus located?
Around the pterygoid muscles and surrounding the maxillary artery on each side of the face in the infratemporal fossa
What is the pterygoid plexus clinical significance ?
If its punctured during PSA block it can cause the infection to travel to cavernous sinus where it can cause thrombosis which results in Death because it goes to the brain
