Mechanism thrombolysis
A
Converts plasminogen to plasmin which degrades fibrin

Contraindications thrombolysis
A
Absolute - active bleeding
Relative
- major abdominal surgery 2 weeks
- craniotomy, TIA, stroke 2 months
- known intracerebral tumour, aneurysm, AVM
- trauma, non compressible vessel puncture 10 days
- bleeding diathesis
- pregnancy
