A

It is an assortment of lines, colors and other elements of art work that create interest in a piece of artwork.

It is achieved by adding something different to a design to provide a break in the repetition. It works through juxtaposition and contrast.

  2. Line variance- thick or thin, broken or continuous, long or short, straight or curved.
  3. Brushwork variance- the pressure used, amount of paint used, surface painted on, how dry the brush is, angle of the brush
  4. Technique variance- means and methods by which paint is applied.
  5. Shape variance- big or small, geometric or organic, solid or weak, colorful or dull.
  6. Edge variance- represents the transition between two shapes. hard, soft or lost.
