It can be assymptomatic!

Aching pain on standing
Poor cosmetic look
Venous ulcers and eczema
Risk factors
FH
Prolonged standing
Abdominal or pelvis masses compressing IVC or iliac veins e.g. pregnancy
What imaging is done?
Doppler US
Management:
Conservative - 2
What should be avoided?
Analgesia can also be used for pain!
Compression therapy with stockings
Weight loss
Avoid prolonged standing - think hairdressers

When is surgery needed?
Options? -4
Pain
Ulceration
Poor cosmetic look (not on NHS)
Vein stripping
Radiofrequency
Lasar ablation
