What is the infectious course of varicella?
A
a child is contagious 1-2 days before lesions appear and 6 days after lesions crust over.

What are the three stages that chicken pox lesions go through?
A
- papule (small, raised tender bump on the skin)
- vesicle
- crust

Would anti-virals be given to any child, especially an otherwise healthy one?
A
No, not likely.
High risk groups are most likely to receive antiviral therapy (such as acyclovir) AS WELL AS a flu vaccine even though already exposed.
