What is the name of the virus that causes mono?
A
Epstein-Barr virus is the culprit of mono.
Infectious mononucleosis is most common in people ages 25 or younger, and is spread via direct contact with oral secretions.

-lymphadenopathy
-splenomegaly
-headache
Rule of Thumb with Mono Diagnosis: avoid contact sports for up to 3 weeks after symptoms subside- see docs advice for how long to avoid if splenomegaly was proved present.

What is treatment for mono?
A
Mono is self-limiting so treatment is just supportive care.
