Q

What does genetics arise as a result of?

A

Mutations- sudden changes to genes or chromosomes can be passed on to the next generation.
Meiosis- mixes up genetic material before it is passed on to the gametes, all of which are therefore different.
Fusion of gametes- in sexual reproduction, offspring inherit genetic material from both parents and are therefore different from both of them. Which gamete fuses with which is random which further adding to the variety of characteristics and offspring may have.
