variables and types of study Flashcards
1
Q
what axis does the dependent and independent variables go on
A
- dependent: Y
- independent: X
2
Q
what are confounding variables?
A
- variables that are not the focus of the investigation but can complicate the interpretation of results and cause variability in both dependent and independent variables.
3
Q
what is another type of variable relationship that is not independent-dependent variables
A
- Inter-dependence, where one variable does not depend on another but both variables may show correlation between one another.
e.g. arm span and height. They may correlate, but one does not depend on the other.e
4
Q
what are 2 types of independent variable
A
- independent variable that is observed e.g. time or temperature
- independent variable that is manipulated e.g. concentration or temperature
