Define a variable
Things that can be changed or altered, such as a characteristic or value
Describe operationalisation
When a variable is defined by the researcher and a way of measuring that variable is developed for research
Define a confounding variable
Influences that interfere with an accurate measurement between the IV and DV
Define a situational variable
Factors in the environment can impact an individuals level of obedience
What are individual differences?
The more/less enduring psychological characteristics that distinguish one person from another
Define an extraneous variable
Any variable that you’re not investigating that can potentially affect the IV or DV that needs to be controlled for
Describe what demand characteristics are
Occur when participants try to make sense of the research and act accordingly to support the aim of the research
What are order (practise) effects?
Any change that results merely from the repetition of a task
