What is the role of an ethics committee?
Promote the ethical practise of psychology
Describe a cost-benefit analysis
Measures the benefits of a decision/taking action, minus the cost associated with taking that action
What are ethical guidelines?
Used my groups/organisations to define what actions are morally right and wrong
Define deception
Intentional misleading of subjects/withholding of full information about the nature of an experiment
Define confidentiality
Professionals keeping your information private
What is informed consent?
Making participants aware of the aims/purposes of a study, so that they can consent with full knowledge of what they are apart of
What is presumptive consent
Asking a group of people from the same target population as the sample wether they would agree to take part - if yes then it’s presumed same would aswell
Explain the right to withdraw
Individual who initially agrees has the right to withdraw at any time
Explain protection from harm
Participants must be protected from physical and mental harm during a study
Define advise
Recommendation to do something
Define debriefing
The true aim of the study is revealed to the participants after it has happened
