what are some risk factors for patients developing vap?
contaminated respiratory equipment
inadequate hand washing

colonization of oropharynx
when does VAP occur?
occurs 48 hours or more after intubation
how can we prevent VAP?
HOB elevation
strict hand hyigene
drain water from tubing
no routine changes of ventilaror circuit tubing
how often should we suction?
regularly, under a schedule
what do we use to help with oral care?
